Double-Hull Tank Barges

JMS Naval Architects & Salvage Engineers has designed a 10,000 gallon double-hull tank barge. The 50’ x 18’-6” x 6’-8” barge was built by Senesco Marine of North Kingstown, RI. The HARBOR FUEL 1 was custom-designed for Ocean Havens Marina of Boston, MA and will be used for refueling club member and transient yachts and other sailing and powered vessels in and around their Boston Harbor facilities.

The tank barge has two pair of port and starboard cargo tanks, one pair port and starboard cargo pumps and refueling stations, a climate-controlled control room for the tankerman, and onboard power generation. The barge also includes a mechanical flow meter and electronic register system allowing fuel receipt printing on-site for customers. This system is tied-in to an onboard computer with a wireless data transmission link to the Ocean Haven’s office for real-time tracking of when and how much fuel is being offloaded.
